Cigarette Boxes

With hopes that Elisabeth will join the blog and see this entry, I'm posting this artist's work that I saw over the weekend that reminded me of her. It's another take on using the cigarette box in artwork. His name is Brett Angell and I saw his stuff at the South End Open Studios in the SoWa district of Boston. He was selling his boxes for $35 each (I think!). He probably had about 40 different ones. The cut outs had plexiglass under them and the boxes felt very solid and rigid, as if a clear coat may have been applied. To see a few more boxes, you can visit his website at www.brettangell.com

Boulder Open Studios

Have any of you heard of Open Studios in Boulder? It's a 2 weekend event where artists in the community open their studios to the public. Some give demonstrations, but all are available to talk to you about their artwork. I went a couple of years ago and was very inspired!
